Mar. 1938 Established in present Katsushika-ku, Tokyo, with capital of 400,000 yen. Started manufacturing metal working fluid.
Jan. 1947 Started manufacturing textile auxiliaries.
Mar. 1950 Opened the Nagoya office in the city of Nagoya.
Jan. 1952 Succeeded in technical development of emulsifiers and spreaders for agricultural pesticides and started manufacturing them.
Started manufacturing various industrial surfactants and chemical agents for paper manufacturing.
Nov. 1956 Opened the Osaka office in the city of Osaka.
Aug. 1960 Newly established the Oppama Plant in Yokosuka-shi, Kanagawa.
Jan. 1961 Started manufacturing emulsifiers for synthetic rubber emulsion polymerization and synthetic resin products.
Feb. 1962 Successfully completed development of manufacturing techniques of solvent ethylene glycol monobutyl ether and began first domestic production in Japan.
May. 1962 Listed on the second section of Tokyo Stock Exchange.
May. 1964 Newly established the Technical Laboratory in Yokosuka-shi, Kanagawa (currently Oppama Laboratory).
Mar. 1965 Acquired the stocks of the manufacturer of paper manufacturing chemical agents Kindai Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. and made it a subsidiary company (currently a consolidated subsidiary).
Jul. 1965 Newly established the Tokuyama Plant in Tokuyama-shi (currently Shunan-shi), Yamaguchi and started manufacturing emulsifiers for synthetic rubber emulsion polymerization.
Oct. 1967 Established a new subsidiary company Toho Petroleum Resin Co., Ltd. Built the Yokkaichi Plant in the Yokkaichi waterfront industrial area and started manufacturing petroleum resins.
Jun. 1969 Newly established the Surfactant Laboratory in Katsushika-ku, Tokyo (currently the Chiba Laboratory after relocation).
Aug. 1970 Established the new subsidiary company Toho Chiba Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. Built the Sodegaura Plant in the Keiyo waterfront industrial area and started manufacturing surfactants.
Oct. 1975 Started manufacturing polyethers in the subsidiary Toho Chiba Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.
Jun. 1978 Established the new subsidiary company Yokosuka Environmental Technology Center and started business of testing and analysis for environmental assessment (currently a consolidated subsidiary).
Apr. 1979 Constructed an up-and-coming factory in the Oppama Plant and implemented mass-production systems of solvents, crude oil chemicals, and lubricant additives.
Sep. 1986 Newly installed production facilities for cationic cellulose at the Tokyo Plant.
Dec. 1987 Newly installed continuous sulfonation equipment at the Sodegaura Plant of the subsidiary Toho Chiba Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.
Oct. 1988 Merged the subsidiary Toho Petroleum Resin Co., Ltd. (currently the Yokkaichi Plant).
Mar. 1989 Increased capital via a public offering of 2 million shares (Capital: 1,755 million yen).
Oct. 1990 Constructed a new research building in the city of Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture.
Oct. 1993 Merged the subsidiary Toho Chiba Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (currently the Chiba Plant)
Mar. 1994 Established the new joint venture company Toho Huaiji Forest Chemical Co., Ltd. (currently a consolidated subsidiary Toho Huaiji Chemical Co., Ltd.)
Jun. 1995 Moved the Tokyo Plant to the Chiba Plant for integration and added a fine chemical plant in the premise.
Jul.1996 Moved the Head office to Akashi-cho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
May. 1998 Constructed a pilot plant at the Oppama Laboratory.
Jan. 1999 Newly installed production facilities for electronics and IT materials at the Chiba Plant.
Feb. 1999 Established the subsidiary Toho Chemical Warehousing Co., Ltd. (currently a consolidated subsidiary).
Dec. 1999 Acquired ISO 9001 certification (JQA-QM4007).
Feb.2000 Established the joint venture company Toho Chemical (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in Bangkok, Thailand (Current location: Samut Prakan Province).
Dec. 2001 Acquired ISO 14001 certification (JQA-EM1969).
May. 2005 Established the Shanghai representative office of Toho Chemical Industry of Japan Co., Ltd. , in Shanghai, China.
Apr. 2007 Inherited the business of the sales and research departments from the subsidiary Kindai Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.
Feb. 2008 Added production facilities for electronics and IT materials at the Chiba Plant.
Nov. 2008 Reorganized the Shanghai representative office in Shanghai, China, and established Toho Chemical Shanghai Co., Ltd. (currently a consolidated subsidiary).
Apr. 2009 Constructed the Kashima Plant in the Kashima area (city of Kamisu), Ibaraki Prefecture. Started manufacturing surfactants.
Jul. 2010 Established the new subsidiary company Toho Chemical Industry Shanghai Co., Ltd., in Shanghai, China (currently a consolidated subsidiary).
Jun. 2011 Established the subsidiary of Toho Huaiji Chemical Co., Ltd., in Guangdong province, China, named Toho Huizhou Chemical Co., Ltd.
Jul. 2011 Added production facilities for surfactants at the Chiba Plant.
Mar. 2012 Expanded electronic information material production facilities at the Chiba Plant.
Apr. 2014 Commenced commercial production at our subsidiary TOHO CHEMICAL INDUSTRY SHANGHAI CO., LTD.
Jul. 2014 Commenced commercial production at TOHO HUIZHOU CHEMICAL CO., LTD., a subsidiary of TOHO HUAIJI CHEMICAL CO., LTD.
Mar. 2017 Expanded electronic information material purification facilities at the Chiba Plant.
May. 2019 Expanded electronic information material purification facilities at the Chiba Plant.
Jul. 2020 Merged with our subsidiary TOHO CHEMICAL Warehousing CO., LTD.

Apr. 2022 Transitioned from the second section of the market to the standard market due to a review of the market classification of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
